Sayonara 2011. You siren. You whirlwind. You temptress and maker of change. First you gave then you took away. Past your final equinox now, your night recedes. The light at the end of the tunnel, indeed.
The word solstice derives from Latin, Winter Solstice meaning Sun set still in winter. Worldwide, interpretation of the event varies from culture to culture, but most hold a recognition of rebirth.
So many mornings now I wake up with some random song playing in my head. Sometimes it is so obscure to me that I have to search and search before I can figure out what it is. Although seemingly random it often makes perfect sense to my subconscious.
Wet wings,
from above,
come some helping hand.
After the storm,
before the wind takes you
again and again.
In the sun betwixt.
On the road beneath.
For the times we lay silent and bitter and sweet.
and the howling rains.
Such love.
Such perilous love.
